Turks spend 4 billion dollars on education abroad

While over 4 million students around the world study outside their countries, more than 100 thousand students from Turkey receive an education abroad.

In 2020, the number of international students around the world is expected to exceed 8 million. The total expense of students from Turkey studying abroad in these counties is 4 billion dollars.

The number of Turkish students studying abroad reaches 100 thousand a year. As this global industry grows each passing year, the expenditure of the nearly 4 million students who study abroad is 150 billion dollars. Turkish students contribute 4 billion dollars to this figure.

Turkish students prefer the following countries: USA (25,000), Great Britain (30,000), Germany (10,000), France (4,000), Canada (3,000), Australia (3,500), China (1,000), Russia (1,500), Ukraine (1,000), Italy (800). While a significant portion of Turkish students go abroad by their own means, some continue their educations with scholarships they receive from Turkish or foreign institutions.
