More than 150 cruise vessels have visited Tulcea this season, despite the adverse conditions of navigation, and 30 more are expected towards the end of October.
Most tourists come from Germany, Austria, France and Belgium.
«We have contracts for 182 vessels arriving here from April through late October. One week this summer, vessels could not get access to Tulcea because of the Danube low water level. Tourists arriving on cruise ships are the main source of revenue for Tulcea. We provide lodging and meals for them, compile their itineraries, including visits to Tulcea museums and the Saon monastery. In recent years, the number of vessels arriving to the Delta have begun to gradually increase. Currently, we are able receive from 200 to 220 ships per year », - said Victor Iancu, director of SC Europolis.
Each ship arriving to Tulcea hosts approximately 200 people, of which about 160 plan tours to the Danube Delta.
