Turkey raises natural gas, electricity prices by 10 %
The price of natural gas has increased by 9.8 percent and the price of electricity by 10.1 percent, say announcements made respectively by the state-owned Turkish Pipeline Corporation (BOTAŞ) and the Energy Market Regulatory Agency (EPDK) on September 30.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan earlier said the state had no other choice but to charge people more for natural gas, which has become more expensive due to upwards pressure increasing oil prices have exerted on natural gas prices.
The official announcement came from BOTAŞ, which also said the price hike was unavoidable due to the increasing oil prices.
