Romania to grant Moldova 50.000 euros to mitigate drought consequences
Romania's government will grant Moldova urgent help amounting to 50.000 euros to help Moldovan authorities mitigate the consequences of the current year drought.
The Romanian foreign minister said on 10 October the allocated funds are going to be transferred to Chisinau in the near future.
The decision being taken after the Moldovan government launched an international call for support, was officially announced by a letter Romanian Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean addressed his Moldovan counterpart.
Deputy Premier, Foreign and European Integration Minister Iurie Leanca answered his counterpart's letter, thanking Romania for its solidarity gesture, which is highly praised by Moldova, given the consequences of the drought that Romania is facing as well.
The Romanian Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry offered Moldovan farmers hurt by the drought, 110 tonnes of certified wheat seeds in early October 2012.
