Russian MFA reaffirms Moscow’s stance on Transnistrian conflict
The Russian side’s principal approach to the Transnistria settlement problem has not changed: Russia has always proceeded consistently and continues to proceed from respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova and for the neutral status of the republic fixed in its Constitution.
Such is the quintessence of the commentary issued on October 18 by the Information and Press Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in connection with recent media interpretations of Russia’s stance on the Transnistrian conflict settlement.
It is exactly on this stance that Moscow stands up for a quest for an all-embracing and lasting political settlement that would ensure a special and reliably guaranteed legal status for Transnistria, stressed the MFA Department.
The Ministry is convinced as before that only Chisinau and Tiraspol are able to resolve this problem, and the international community, including Russia, will be promoting this and treating the solution with respect.
