Environmental Film Festival to be held in Sochi
The first film festival of environmental cinema «H2O» will be held from October 26 to 28 in Sochi, Russia under UN auspices.
The event is timed to celebrating the Day of the Black Sea. This year the festival’s theme will be the International Year of Sustainable Energy for All, announced by the UN.
On the opening day they will show a film «At the end of a fishing rod», which tells of ocean resources and the depletion of fish reserves.
Within three days, the audience will see a selection of documentaries about the search for alternative fuels, the "natural" cost of power and the role of cars. A National Geographic film on climate change, which was awarded a prize at the Sundance festival, will be presented to Sochi residents. Schoolchildren will have a chance to see Franny Armstrong 's film «The Age of Stupid».
Organizers of the festival are the UN Development Programme and art association «CoolConnections», with the support of the Sochi city administration and "Coca-Cola" company in the framework of the project «Every Drop Matters».
