Gas consumption cut 8.3% in Ukraine
Over nine months of this year, Ukraine cut natural gas consumption by 3.38 billion cu m (8.3%) against the same period of the previous year to 37.369 billion cu m.
Statistics of the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry testifies to that, the UKRINFORM reports.
In particular, in September 2012, natural gas consumption in Ukraine reduced by 399.3 million cu m or by 14.6% against September 2011 to 331.5 million cu m.
To remind, according to Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Boiko, reduction of gas consumption in Ukraine takes place at the expense of reduction of the resource consumption for electric energy production. According to his forecast, Ukraine will cut natural gas consumption in 2012 by 15% against 2011, and in 2013 - by another 12%.
As reported by the agency, Ukraine cut Russian gas import in January-September 2012 by 30.9% or by 10.99 billion cu m against the same period of the previous year to 24.58 billion cu m.
The average price of natural gas for NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine was USD 422.3/1,000 cu m in Q1-Q3, 2012, which exceeds the same index of the previous year by 38.3% (USD 305.3/1,000 cu m).
