SMS to be used to buy train tickets in Bulgaria
Starting from December 8, people will be able to buy train tickets in Bulgaria by sending an SMS from their cell phones.
The ticket will have its usual price – people will only have to additionally pay SMS costs according to tariffs of their operators.
SMS ticket sales are launched as a pilot project at the route Sophia – Mezdra, and then, if the project is successful, it will be implemented at the entire territory of the country.
Sending an SMS message, clients will have to specify initials of the departure and arrival stations with a hyphen between them. All stations will have the information on station denominations. After the message is sent, the cell phone will get a reply, containing a unique code. It will be checked by train conductors, using a special device. Such practice will ensure the prevention of any frauds.
Bulgarian Railways plan to launch another new service after the New Year – purchase of tickets in the Internet.
