Ukrainian agrarian workers planning to export over 12 million tons of corn

Corn will become the main national export culture. In the export structure, which is forecasted at 20-21 million tons, about 12 million tons falls on corn. For today, the actual volume of the sale of this culture abroad makes up 2.5 million tons.

The Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk has said about this, the press service of the Ministry told UKRINFORM.

«We see that corn becomes the queen of the fields today. This is the culture, which gives high yields and it is effective in growing. Gross production of corn grows in Ukraine. This year, we are planning to gather corn at the level of 20-21 million tons. Export potential will reach over 12 million tons,» the official noted.

According to him, as of October 30, actual corn export volumes make up over 2.5 million tons since the beginning of September. Over recent weeks, substantial growth of this culture export rates took place and its considerable part has been already prepared for shipping at ports. The Minister underscored that thanks to available storage capacities and modern technologies of corn processing, Ukraine may export this culture the year round.

«We already have those storage capacities and technologies of corn processing, which allow us to export corn not only during harvesting, but the year round. I am convinced that this culture will become one of powerful components of the grain group,» Prysiazhniuk is convinced.
