Georgia’s Poti administration to meet strikers
About 1200 workers of the Poti Port in Georgia have been on strike for 6 days, demanding higher wages and better labour conditions. A member of the strikers’ committee Gocha Cheminava said that the only problem left to discuss was wages, Trend reports.
Director General of the port Joseph Crowley said that the company was increasing wages annually and will increase it by 20% in January 2013.
Owner of the port APM Terminals is part of the Maersk Group (Denmark). It is ready to increase wages by 40% only for reservists with contracts.
