Georgian opposition protests against inspection of Public Television
The United National Movement of Georgia has left the parliament as a protest to inspection of the Georgian Public Broadcaster by financial police.
President Mikheil Saakashvili’s party says that the channel is independent and inspecting it would mean pressurizing mass media.
Director General of the Public Broadcaster Georgy Chanturia said that the channel underwent unscheduled inspection. He reminded that inspectors had never visited the channel since the 1990s. Only state audit was organized.
