Ukraine is losing rail transit

In January-October Ukrainian railways have transported 381.3 mln tons of cargo - 1.3% less than in the same period of 2011.

In overall cargo turnover, the share of transit cargoes is 17.9%, 9.2% of the total traffic.

For 10 months of 2012 the amount of transit traffic has fallen to 34.8 mln tons, by 18.7% compared to the same period in 2011. For comparison, transit in September 2012 was 2.6 million tons, which is 34.5% less than in September 2011.

In overall cargo turnover the share of domestic traffic is 35.2%, 52.7% of the total traffic. For the first 9 months of 2012 domestic traffic has amounted to 180.3 mln tons, 7.6 mln tons (4%) less than in the same period of 2011.
