Pitesti receives title of European city of sports for 2013

Pitesti Municipality (Arges County, south) received the title of European city of sports for the year 2013, awarded by the European Association of Capital Cities and Towns of Sports, during a ceremony organized at the hqrs. of the European Parliament, in Brussels.

On this special occasion, Pitesti mayor Tudor Pendiuc was handed out the flag of the town of sports.

«I've received the flag of sports town of the year, in Romania, and it is taken over from another big city the Municipality of Iasi. It is a great joy for us (...) through the benefit we bring to Pitesti, to Romania.,» said Pendiuc.

Pitesti mayor stressed that the support by some of Romania's representatives in the European Parliament also contributed to earning the title.
