Sochi residents will be checked for English knowledge, required for communication with Olympic Games guests

In December volunteers will check how well Sochi residents have mastered English in the framework of the linguistic project «Word of the day» for communication with Olympic Games 2014 guests.

«Word of the day» linguistic project, developed by the city administration, was launched in Sochi in April. For these 8 months words and phrases in English were broadcast on the screens at shopping malls, public transport, medical and educational institutions, as well as on the radio and television. The project ends in December, and Sochi residents will be offered goodbye phrases in English for studying: Good luck to you in learning English! Goodbye!

In December city volunteers will conduct a public opinion poll among the city residents. Its results will show whether the project is going to be continued in 2013.
