Number of credit cards in Turkey doubled over last 4 years

According to the data of the Bank Regulation and Supervision Agency, announced on November 26, the total number of credit cards grew from 32.9 million in September 2008 to 68.2 million in September 2012.

The credit cards are most widely used in large cities. The leading position is undoubtedly occupied by Istanbul residents – 23.7 million cards. They are followed by residents of the Turkish capital Ankara (6.1 million) and Izmir (4.2 million) cards.

Eastern provinces of Turkey appeared to be the least consumed with the «card rush».
