Moldovan experts launched new National Human Development Report
Moldovan experts launched on December 7, 2012 in Chisinau the 11th National Human Development Report for 2012. The study was carried out under the aegis of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and focuses on the analysis of the European integration aspirations of the Moldovan society.
Attending the launching ceremony of the study was Prime Minister Vlad Filat. He said the document will be included on the government's activity agenda. "Moving towards Europe, we acknowledge the fact that we actually build Europe at home", Filat said. "We are glad that during this effort, we can feel the support of our external partners, in good and bad times; due to this support, we now lay the foundations of a more democratic, prosperous and functional state," Filat said.
For his part, the head of the EU Delegation to Moldova, Ambassador Dirk Schuebel said Moldova's future EU member-state statute, will increase the competitiveness of Moldovan companies, thus creating more jobs and increasing the citizens' well-being. "Moldova must start behaving like an EU member-state before actually becoming it," Schuebel said.
"The EU integration is only a context within which Moldova must advance its reforms and become a model for others," the regional director within the UNDP, Cihan Sultanoglu said.
The report entitled "European integration aspirations and human development of Moldova" comprises 140 pages and analyses, compares and offers solutions to Moldova's social and economic problems.
