Russia forwards new tranche of financial assistance to Transnistria

The Russian Federation has sent to Transnistria a new tranche of humanitarian financial assistance. The announcement was made by Transnistrian leader Yevgeny Shevchuk, at a meeting with Tiraspol citizens.

According to the website of the Transnistrian leader, a part of the received proceeds will be used for purchasing high-tech medical equipment, whereas the rest – for repairing kindergartens in the region.

Transnistrian leader Yevgeny Shevchuk advocated the improvement of the healthcare services in the medical institutions. To this end, medical technology centers are to be created in Tiraspol, Bender and Ribnita. The regional authorities have already started to purchase modern medical and sanitary appliances for these centers.

According to unofficial data, Russia has forwarded to Transnistria about US$3 million. During the recent visit to the region, Russian President’s Special Representative on Transnistria, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin spoke about Russia’s intention to earmark 3 billion Russian rubles in humanitarian assistance to the region.
