Less than half of Romanians believe that they are part of a society

Most Romanians do not see themselves as being part of a society, shows a National Happiness study. However, Romanians do make donations, 75 percent of them saying that they made at least one donation per year. Meanwhile, only 5.1 percent of Romanians believe that they would recover their wallet if they lost it.

The study shows that only 40.5 percent of the Romanians believe that they are part of a society. A worrying rate of just 7 percent of respondents trusted the administration of their community and only 11.9 percent trust their neighbors.

Those who feel most acutely the lack of belonging to a community are the group defined by the study as «needy», while «careerist» are mostly unhappy with the district where they live. Only 37.2 percent are happy with their neighborhood.

Positive elements with a high level of satisfaction (percentage of people satisfied) are personal tranquility (56.3 percent), neighborhood safety (55 percent), public transport (50.2 percent), shows the same study.

Low satisfaction levels are found with well paid employment opportunities (mentioned by only 15.5 percent of respondents), the opportunity to purchase affordable housing (27.6 percent), health (30.3 percent) and quality education (39.9 percent).
