Georgian external debt – $13 billion
According to the National Bank of Georgia, country’s external debts as on September 30, 2012 reached $13 billion (21.7 billion lari).
The major part of the debt (almost 32%) in the amount of $4.2 billion includes Government obligations, $651.8 million (5%) – obligations of the National Bank, $2.2 billion (17%) – bank sector obligations, $3.1 billion (23.4 %) – obligations of other sectors, while $2.9 billion (22.6%) – debts of companies.
According to Trend Agency, only 6% of the debt have been denominated in the national currency.
