Turkey appeals to host Olympic Games in Istanbul

Turkey filed an application to the International Olympic Committee to host the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Istanbul, the online newspaper Yeni Şafak reported on January 7, says Trend.

A delegation consisting of Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbas, Deputy Head of the Olympic Committee of Turkey, Hasan Arat and Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Yavuz Celik left for the «capital of the Olympic Games», Lausanne, to submit an application.

If Istanbul is selected to host the 2020 Olympic Games, 25 more sports facilities will be built in the city.

The newspaper reported that at present there are 11 sports facilities in Istanbul.
