NBM reserve assets hit new record in early 2013
Moldova’s currency reserve stood at US$2.514 billion as of late December 2012, which is a new record-breaking figure. The currency reserve increased US$92 million in a month and over US$0.5 billion in a year.
According to the data of the National Bank of Moldova, in late December, the greatest share of the reserve assets - US$1.446 billion was kept in governmental securities, whereas US$1.062 billion – in deposits. The reserve assets kept in gold made US$4.11 million.
As of early 2012, the official gold reserve of Moldova was assessed at US$347 thousand, equivalent to 6.136 kilograms of gold, at the then price of US$56.56 thousand per one kilogram.
