3.7 million hectares afforested in Turkey

Turkish Forestry & Water Works Ministry afforested 3.7 million hectares of area across Turkey between 2002 and 2011.

The ministry spent a total of 1.2 billion Turkish lira (TL) for afforestation, rehabilitation, erosion control and improvement of lands in the mentioned period.

Only in 2012, 942 million saplings were planted on an area of 491,000 hectares.
