Romania will launch a new vessel traffic management system on the Danube in January 2013

The project »Vessel Traffic Management and Information System on Romanian Danube - RORIS» is nearing completion, Cuget Liber S.A informs.

The current system has been supplemented with a capability of interconnection with other systems in Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Serbia.

All system equipment has been delivered, installed and put into operation. Since September 1, 2012, the system has been undergoing testing in local and regional centres. Training courses for the staff have also been conducted.

The project’s total cost is RON 52 million. 71.1% of the total amount was provided by the European Commission, 28.9% came from the national budget. The project’s completion is scheduled for January 2013.
