Turkey to spend up to $250 billion on transportation and electric facilities

Turkey may spend up to $250 billion on transportation and power lines, Minister for Economy Zafer Caglayan said, Anadolu reports.

About $110 billion may be spent on railway projects and some $130 billion on electric facilities to increase their output from 57,000 MW/h to 114 MW/h.

The Turkish State Company for Electricity Transmission (TEIAS) said that production of electricity had increased by 5% in January-November 2012, compared with the same period in 2011, to 218.6 billion KW/h. Consumption of electricity increased by 5.6% in January-November 2012, compared with the same period in 2011, to 220.9 billion KW/h.
