Georgia to scrap national presidential polls
Vakhtang Khmaladze, chairman of the Georgian parliamentary committee for legal affairs, says that there is no need for national elections in order to choose a new president.
He reminded that the president in the majority of states was elected by the parliament or a group of electors. Khmaladze did not give details on way the president will be elected in autumn.
Khmaladze is one of the candidate for president and member of the Georgian Dream coalition, as stated by Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili on various occasions.
