About 50 irrigation canals will be restored in Georgia by the season’s start - Ministry of Agriculture
As noted in Georgia’s Ministry of Agriculture press service release, the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) and the «United Amelioration System Company of Georgia» (UASCG) have purchased new land amelioration equipment for the total cost of GEL 3.6 million (US$ 2.1 mln) in order to restore irrigation canals, News-Georgia informs.
According to the Ministry’s press service, rehabilitation works are going by fast pace. Currently, restoration of canals is under way in Eastern Georgia: in municipalities of Marneuli, Gardabani, Kareli, Kaspi and Sagarejo. Designing of 15 main irrigation canals has been completed.
The works which are being conducted will result in irrigation of a total of 70 ths hectares of agricultural lands this year.
