Moldovan president, ruling alliance’s leaders discuss current political situation

Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti held a meeting with the leaders of the ruling Alliance for European Integration (AIE), the leader of the senior coalition partner Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Vlad Filat, the leader of the Liberal Party (PL), Mihai Ghimpu and the leader of the Democratic Party (PD), Marian Lupu, at the presidential residence on 21 February.

Timofti suggested the AIE leaders settle current issues within the ruling coalition and find the right solutions in order to keep the current governing format. The Moldova president welcomed the AIE leaders’ decision to meet on 21 February to discuss the current political situation. He urged them to continue talks in the near future. Timofti said he was further willing to mediate negotiations in this respect.
