Moldovan-Czech energy cooperation commission held meeting in Chisinau

The Moldovan-Czech commission for energy cooperation, held on February 25, 2013 meeting in Chisinau. The participants in the meeting thoroughly discussed the evolution of energy systems, development prospects and main aspects of the bilateral cooperation, the Economics Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.

The head of the Economics Ministry’s department for energy security and efficiency, Vadim Ceban, made a detailed presentation of Moldova’s energy strategy by 2030. He pointed out possible cooperation sectors between Moldova and the Czech Republic. According to Ceban, the strategy would ensure the energy security and reliability of energy deliveries, create a competitive Moldovan energy market and back its sustainable development. Victor Ceban said Moldova had committed to gradually implement the EU directives in the energy sector, thus being an active importer and consumer of energy resources in the region.

For his part, the co-chairman of the Czech delegation, chairman of the Czech Commerce and Industry Ministry’s gas and liquid fuels industry department, Jan Zaplatilek, voiced conviction that Moldova and the Czech Republic had enough tangencies in the commercial cooperation sector as well in the technical assistance and official experience exchange fields.

The participants in the meeting agreed that Moldovan officials would pay a business visit to Czech enterprises operating in the energy efficiency and renewable energy fields, in the second half of March 2013.
