Sochi to create «external security perimeter» before the beginning of the Olympics

Law enforcement agencies will arrange an «external security perimeter» along the borders with Abkhazia and Kabardino-Balkaria, Live Kuban reports. The perimeter will guarded by the troops of the special mission units from the Ministry of Defense.

Representatives of law enforcement authorities believe that the major threat to the security in the Olympic Games comes from the clandestine gangster organizations at the Northern Caucasus. Army people think it may well be that, when getting closer to the Olympics, international terrorist organizations, similar to Al Kaida, will become more active.

At present the operational group «Sochi» includes two special mission brigades: 22^nd – in Stepnoy settlement of Rostov region, and 10^th – Goryachy Klyuch. Aviation forces of the group include helicopters and aircrafts from airdromes of Korenovsk and Budyonnovsk in Stavropol Krai.
