Bulgaria, Israel presidents to meet for talks

Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev will meet next week with Israeli President Shimon Peres. The two leaders will confer as part of Shimon Peres’s EU tour from 5 to 12 March.

In Brussels and Strasbourg he is going to lobby for classifying the Shiite group Hezbollah as a terrorist organization. Israel has stepped up pressure on EU to classify the Lebanese grouping as a terrorist organization after on 5 February the Bulgarian government said Hezbollah had been involved in the bomb attack at Burgas Airport last July in which five Israeli tourists, their Bulgarian driver and a presumed attacker died.
