Bulgaria declares March 6 day of national mourning in memory of Plamen Goranov
In connection to the death of Plamen Goranov who set himself on fire on February 20 in protest, the Boyko Borissov’s government in resignation declared March 6 the day of national mourning.
Thirty six year old Plamen put himself on fire in the morning of February 20, in front of the municipal building of the coastal town of Varna. He participated actively in the civil protests against the town management, poverty, corruption and high bills of electricity. The man suffered heavy burns and despite the active civil campaign for blood-donation, he deceased on Sunday.
