Approximately 80 vessels and ship to supplement Russian Navy by 2020
By 2020 the Russian Navy should get 8 missile submarine cruisers, 16 all-purpose submarines, and 54 surface combat ships.
This is the information announced by the Minister of Defense Sergey Shoygu at the agency intercom meeting.
According to Sergey Shoygu, starting from 2011 the maintenance of vessels and ships is carried out in the framework of the three-year contract with the United Shipbuilding Corporation. At that, December 2013 is the time for conclusion of a new contract.
The Head of the Ministry has also reminded that some time ago a decision had been made to establish the department of operational formation of the Navy in the Mediterranean region, where the fleet forces will be located on a continuing basis.
