EU will allocate 145 mln EUR for protecting Romanian coastline

On March 25 the European Commission approved investments of over 145 mln EUR for environmental projects, targeted at protecting the Black Sea coast in south-eastern Romania.

According to Agerpress, the project will be implemented in five areas most prone to the phenomenon of accelerated erosion along the 7.3 km coastal strip. The project «Protection and restoration of the Black Sea coast in judet (county) of Constanta in municipality of North Eforie» envisages mostly investments in coastal protection infrastructure. The project will help increase the area of the beaches by 2015 and will create 250 jobs. Reducing the risk of flooding will also help avoid possible million dollar damage.
