Insulin to be included in drugs compensated list in Moldova

Acting Prime Minister Vlad Filat has signed an order including the insulin in the list of compensated drugs, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

On the occasion of the World Health Day, Filat signed an order by which he had requested to immediately include insulin in the list of drugs integrally compensated by the compulsory insurance fund.

The decision aims at ensuring the observance of the basic principle of treatment of diabetes patients, namely: to ensure insulin availability and accessibility all over Moldova, in order to satisfy diabetes patients’ requirements, regardless of their place of residence.

Thus, each diabetes patient will have the opportunity to benefit from insulin and receive it for free at the closest drug store. This will allow patients to save money as they will no longer have to go to healthcare institutions, where insulin was previously distributed.
