Tourist sights in Romania included in Google Maps’ Street View
Images of several Romanian tourist sights, such as Peles Castle, the Village Museum in Bucharest, Corvinilor Castle and the Sighisoara Citadel, as well as several smaller cities in Romania have been included in Google Maps via its application Street View. Users can thus visit the Romanian sites virtually, seeing more details than ever before online, according to Google Romania.
These new additions come on top of the already existing Romanian cities that had been included in Google’s Street View. The expansion of the Street View project for Romania started mid – last year, when the Google car and bicycle started mapping some of the best known tourist sights in Romania. Street View thus expanded its coverage of Romania by hundreds of localities.
Street View is an application from Google Maps and is available in 50 countries already. It was launched at the end of 2010, and for Romania it was the first localized service introduced in the country after the opening of Google’s Bucharest office. Street View for Romania initially covered the main ski resorts in Prahova Valley, the Black Sea coast and the larger cities of Bucharest, Arad, Oradea, Braşov, Timişoara, Cluj, Sibiu and Constanţa.
