The anniversary edition of the International music festival comes this year as a confirmation of the reputation that the event built for itself in its 20 years of activity. In the difficult economic context both nationally and globally, EUROPAfest remains a solid name which attracts in Romania a surprising number of international artists, similar with that of the biggest European festivals.

The motivation of these facts has at its core both the high level of professionalism of the two competitions within the festival - Bucharest International Jazz Competition and Jeunesses International Music Competition - and the trust in a brand of global level. Its diversity is one of the characteristics that define the EUROPAfest brand. Conceived as an event that brings in Bucharest, once a year, the elegance and excellence of cosmopolitan stages in Europe, the festival surpassed a long time ago its own standards, including today participants from all the world’s continents.

While the special jazz, blues and pop concerts have as guests European artists, the two international contests taking place within the festival include contestants from across the globe. The number of participants in the festival stays high despite the rigorous selection criteria imposed by the presence of a jury of international prestige, annually composed in a percentage of 80% of personalities of the occidental musical stage. Jeunesses International Piano Competition “Dinu Lipatti” registered a record number of participants - 144 musicians from 41 countries. The record is valid not only for the 20 year history of the contest, but also for the other similar international competitions in Romania. At Bucharest International Jazz Competition entered the semi-final 27 bands from 21 countries. To these are added Europe’s Day Concert, Caffe festival, Jam sessions, jazz Workshops, piano Master-classes, EUROPAfest Gala.
