Chisinau hosted 2013 Olympic racing
Prime Minister-designate Iurie Leanca on May 25 parrticipated in the 2013 Olympic Racing, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The event was organised by the National Olympic Committee. Members of the acting government, MPs, athletes, as well as amateur sportsmen, veterans athletes, artists also attended the racing.
The chairman of the National Olympic Committee, Nicolae Juravschi, congratulated the participants in the 2013 Olympic racing, stressing that such activities should become a beautiful tradition in Moldova.
Leanca underlined that it was very important to promote Moldova’s sports culture, by organising more often such events.
The festivity started with a simulating canoe racing entitled: «Olympics challenge politicians, journalists and artists to competition». Four teams, composed of athletes, politicians, journalists and artists, participated in the contest. The competition was carried out on a stage located in the Great National Assembly Square.
Leanca, accompanied by other members of the acting government and MPs, participated in a running race, which started from the Great National Assembly Square and included a 3.5-km distance, finishing near the Arch of Triumph.
Other sports events, such as: tennis, taekwondo, Olympic fencing, shooting and wrestling, also were organised in specially designed places.
The major goal of the Olympic racing was to promote the importance of the sports and of a healthy life style, to educate the society in accordance with the Olympic values: performance, friendship and respect.
