Schengen bid of Bulgaria and Romania will not be a priority for Lithuania
Lithuania, which on July 1 will take up the rotational presidency of the EU, is not optimistic in view of the long-postponed admission of Bulgaria and Romania to the Schengen area.
At a conference on the priorities of the Lithuanian presidency of the EU the country’s Permanent Representative to the EU Raimundas Karoblis said that it is very difficult to make any promise in relation to the issue of Bulgaria’s and Romania’s admission to Schengen. He added that his country prefers to take up as priorities issues that have a reach chance for marking a progress.
