Bulgaria and Romania to coordinate efforts for accession to Schengen
The governments of Bulgaria and Romania will coordinate their stand towards the Schengen Area, in order to show a stronger common stand to their European partners.
The announcement before the media was made by the Bulgarian Premier Plamen Oresharski following a meeting with his Romanian counterpart Victor Ponta at a sitting of the Council of the Party of the European socialists in Sofia.
Issues regarding the Nabucco-West Project, the interconnection gas links, the trans-border cooperation and the tax over the transit electricity were also discussed at the meeting.
Voictor Ponta said that both countries have common projects and difficulties. My main message to Premier Oresharski reads that we need to stop competing with each other and try to prove which country is better, said the Romanian Premier. In his view, the best opportunity for Bulgaria and Romania is to work together in Europe in order to enter the Schengen Area and have better absorption of the EU funds. We are friends and neighbors and we can succeed when we show joint actions or fail when we work separately, concluded Victor Ponta.
