Your vision of Black Sea region matters: student essay competition launched

"The Black Sea Region 20 years from Now" is the topic of a student essay competition launched on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC).

The competition aims to involve students from the BSEC Member States in shaping the vision for the region in cultural, political and economic terms, a press release from the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum said.

The contest, organized in partnership with the Black Sea Universities Network (BSUN), will notably aim to:

provide a unique opportunity for young people throughout the Black Sea region to take part in a regional educational project;

promote a sense of regional belonging among young people of the 12 Member States through their participation in a competition on issues of mutual interest;

give young people from diverse backgrounds a platform to express their views about our region and their dreams for the future;

raise awareness of the potential of regional cooperation and its role in the sustainable development of the Black Sea region.

Submissions should be written in English and be between 2,500 and 3,000 words. The contest is open to all students of accredited universities of the BSEC Member States (Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Rumania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine) aged 18-30 years. The deadline for the submission of essays is 22 August 2013.

The winners will be invited to attend the 42nd General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in Tbilisi on 26-27 November 2013 (travel and accommodation expenses covered) and the winning essays will be published as a special issue of the Journal "Letters from the Black Sea" by the Black Sea Universities Network.
