Turkey may limit rights of military
A bill that would limit the rights of the Turkish military has been submitted to the country's parliament. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan says the bill is crucial for the Turkish political system.
The lawmakers are being urged to deprive the army of the right to interfere in politics in case of an actual threat to the political stability and secular character of the state. The Turkish military has used the law three times in recent decades in order to overthrow the cabinet.
"The bill will strengthen our democratic system," the prime minister says.
