Georgian PM believes restoration of diplomatic relations with Russia before the Sochi Olympics is unfeasible
According to the statement of Georgian Prime-Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili, made during his interview to Deutsche Welle, “it will not be possible to restore diplomatic relations with Russia before the Olympics of 2014 in Sochi”, because such restoration “requires both time and appropriate environment”.
“We have already achieved certain positive progress and virtually restored our trading relations, allowing Georgian products to enter the Russian market. We are quite active in the renewal of regular flights between Moscow and Tbilisi and also conduct negotiations on facilitation and even cancelling of the visa regime. However, certain problems still exist, for instance, installation of barbed wire entanglements and arrests of people by border guards at the administrative border with Abkhazia and South Ossetia”, – Bidzina Ivanishvili has announced.
