Russia, Macedonia sign South Stream gas pipeline agreement
Russia and Macedonia have signed a bilateral cooperation agreement for the construction of a South Stream gas pipeline branch.
The agreement was signed during a meeting between Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak and Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, the Russian Energy Ministry said.
It is intended to improve the energy security of the two countries and create a favorable environment for designing, building and operating gas infrastructure in Macedonia.
Gazprom and Macedonian Energy Resources (MER) are the authorized parties and will register a 50/50 joint venture in Macedonia for the project.
