13 Bulgarian regions on alert over dangerous heat on Tuesday
A total of 13 Bulgarian regions have been placed under Code Orange for Tuesday, as extremely high temperatures are expected to sweep the country.
Code Yellow will be in effect for the regions of Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Pleven, Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse, Blagoevgrad, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Sliven, Yambol and Haskovo, with temperatures between 38 and 40 degrees centigrade expected.
The rest of the country has been put under Code Yellow over very high temperatures.
The National Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology says temperatures will be between 36 and 37 degrees centigrade on Tuesday in the regions of Sofia, Pernik, Kyustendil, Lovech, Gabrovo, Smolyan, Kardzhali, Targovishte, Razgrad, Shumen, Silistra, Dobrich, Varna and Burgas.
Code orange means intense weather situations with potential damage, injuries and casualties. People are advised to keep track of the weather conditions and avoid any potential risks.
Code yellow means potentially dangerous weather, where the forecast is not for unusual meteorological events, but requires people to exercise caution.
