Three Ukrainian laboratories find no benzopyrene in Roshen products

The National Academy of Medical Sciences, State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service and Inspection for Consumer Rights Protection have said about inconsistency of Rospotrebnadzor's statements about products of the Ukrainian factory Roshen.

Dzerkalo Tyzhnia reports on this, adding copies of documents in confirmation.

In particular, the Marzeyev Institute for Hygiene and Medical Ecology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine came to a conclusion that there are no harmful substances in chocolate.

The institute's letter to the chief technologist of the Roshen plant reads that “due to information spread in mass media on availability of benzopyrene in Roshen milk chocolate, laboratory specialists on their own initiative purchased in the trade network and analyzed the samples of Roshen milk chocolate.

“The study was conducted using the methods of chromatographic and spectral fluorescent analysis according to state standards ... As a result, no benzopyrene was found in the analyzed samples (below the sensitivity of 0.1 mg/kg), indicating food safety of chocolate "dark milk" in terms of benzopyrene content,” the Institute's conclusion reads.

The State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of Ukraine holds cooperation with the European information network, which envisages a System of alert on foodstuffs and forages (RASSF).

This system of urgent notification allows specialists of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of Ukraine quickly responding and taking the necessary measures in sanitary-epidemiological supervision and control of foodstuffs.

Information about deviations in security indexes of Roshen confectionary did not come to the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of Ukraine .

The State Consumer Rights Protection Inspection of Ukraine also did not reveal any violations as concerns the quality of Roshen products. Head of the agency Serhiy Orekhov has said about this at a briefing August 7.

According to him, the State Inspection for Consumer Rights Protection did not receive a single official notification on claims to the imported products of Roshen to Russia, due to which it would ban their import.
