Egypt recalls its ambassador in Turkey

Egypt is recalling its ambassador in Turkey for consultations, the state news agency reported on Thursday, mirroring a step announced by Ankara after Turkish criticism of Cairo's crackdown on supporters of ousted President Mohamed Mursi, APA reports quoting Reuters.

"Nabil Fahmy, the foreign minister, decided to recall Egypt's ambassador in Ankara, Abdel Rahman Salah, for consultations," the state news agency reported, giving no further details.

Turkey has recalled its ambassador to Egypt for consultations on Thursday, following harsh condemnation by Ankara of a bloody crackdown by Egyptian security forces on supporters of ousted President Mohamed Mursi, APA reports quoting Reuters.

Turkey has emerged as one of the fiercest international critics of what it has called an "unacceptable coup" after Egypt's military toppled Mursi last month, and has called on the U.N. Security Council to act to stop the bloodshed.
