Danube with Critically Low Level in Western Bulgarian Section
The Danube has fallen to critically low levels near the town of Lom in the western part of Bulgaria's section of the river.
Sunday morning, a level of 80 cm has been measured at Lom, which is a decrease of 16 cm for the last 24 hours.
The river has withdrawn far from regular banks and shallows and small islands have started to emerge, greatly impeding river traffic.
There are special difficulties at kilometers 677, 759 and 824 in the Bulgarian section, informed Bulgarian river authorities.
