Parliament of Georgia adopts changes to Constitution limiting presidential powers
The Georgian Parliament has passed amendments to more than 20 laws related to the new provisions of the Constitution, which will come into force after the election of a new president.
In line with these changes, several presidential powers have been transferred to different structures of government.
The new constitutional rules also stipulate technical changes to some laws. To ensure compliance with the new Constitution, 160 laws should be amended. The Georgian parliament is currently working on passing the necessary decisions.
