The Moldovan Academy of Sciences quashes earthquake forecasts
The Moldovan Academy of Sciences (MAS) has spiked the rumors disseminated by some media outlets, on a possible earthquake that may hit Moldova this week.
According to the Director of the MAS Institute of Geology and Seismology, Vasile Alcaz, «this information is erroneous and has been provided by some incompetent people».
He also said that he had never heard anything about the author of this earthquake warning, specialist Nicu Roiu, although he knows very well his colleagues from Romania.
«Such rumors are launched from time to time. Yet there are no scientific methods that allow predicting the exact moment of earthquakes», – said Alcaz.
