Bulgaria's GERB party submits no-confidence motion

Bulgaria's center-right GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria) party has submitted a no-confidence motion against the government of Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski.

The motion is backed by 96 MPs, the only missing signature being that of GERB MP of Yoana Kirova.

The motive behind the no-confidence vote is the failed investment policy and the establishment of an Investment Planning Ministry, which GERB believes is poorly structured, is not involved in any activities, delays projects and tenders and inflicts damage to the entire sector.

The no-confidence motion was submitted by GERB MPs Dimitar Glavchev, Lilyana Pavlova and Alexander Nenkov.

Dimitar Glavchev, Chair of the parliamentary group of GERB, noted that no-confidence motions based on separate polices would be submitted over short periods of time unless the socialist-lead coalition government spared them this duty by resigning.

Lilyana Pavlova, former Regional Development Minister and current GERB MP, noted that the government lacked a policy in the sphere of investment planning, despite the establishment of the ministry.

She insisted that no details, concrete measures or priorities had been outlined in the area of investment planning for the past four months.
